Windows Server File Permissions

Postby Rapid Dr3am » June 20th 2003, 10:08 am

Okay, I wrote a tutorial on CHMOD, but this function is not available on Windows servers.

I will attempt to translate CHMOD to file permissions for Windows.

R

R - Read, allows for reading of files by the individual given the permission.

W

W - Write, allows for writting of files by the individual given the permission.

X

X - Execute, allows for execution of files by the individual given the permission. Ver important for Perl support. :)

Permissions

Owner Permissions - This is the permissions you get when logged into your ftp.

Group Permissions - This is the access given to people who have access to your server but not by http or ftp.

Public Permissions - This is the permissions to anyone comming in from a http connection.
