User blog hack - .htacess file not found?

Well yet another mod is giving me a little bit of an issue when installing,

This time it's the User Blog Hack - and it's not finding the .htaccess file

Now, I do not know how to fix this issue, can i just make a text file and name it .htaccess?

I've tired forcing the install - but it'll give me a general error, and then I have to uninstall.

Now .... after I uninstall - the funny part is.. the options still show up in my user panel, AND the settings in the ACP ...

(I'm starting to feel like I'm asking way too many questions but the good thing is I'm learning a LOT)

No worries on the questions. That's what we're here for and we all start somewhere. Plus, as you learn, you can help others, too.

So, you're site doesn't have an .htaccess file in the phpBB root folder (the one where viewtopic.php is)? In that case, you may want to download phpBB 3.0.8 ( http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/9238 ) and then grab the .htaccess file from it and upload it to the root. Then, after that, you can apply the changes that are required in the User Blog Hack installation.

Thanks for that. Changing the .htaccess file wouldn't generate those sorts of errors. Did you run the database changes required by the User Blog Hack?

You would do so by visiting the /blog/database.php file in your web browser and letting it run.

I had run the database changes however.....

After doing so my whole site crashed.


Fatal error: Call to undefined method cache::obtain_config() in .../forums/includes/helper.php on line 76

while this is for the forums, for some reason it crashed my whole site.....?

Hello Kirnath,

That seems strange to me. There is no helper.php file with the default phpBB 3 installation or the User Blog Hack. Is there anything special or unique about your phpBB 3 installation?
