First of all HELLO!!! this website is my savior.
ok enough of the kissy kissy....

I am the webmaster for http://www.pacnorwest-cpoa.com/ (an association for Navy Chiefs in the Pacnorwest area) im new to phpbb, MT, sql, cgi, etc. etc. but digging the learning curve.

After getting the site up, I saw the "modules" created in phpbb, and I love it. I like moveable type for my news, but like the frontend and mutiple mods available for phpbb. Ok, this is what I want to do. I like the idea of SlatForum, I would like something like that to be my index page (portal I guess you call it) Im thinking of SlatForum because creating the portals myself seems like a nightmare.

Can I 1.create a totally new forum in a new directory (SlatForum)
2. link to, or use the same SQL database (so I can maintain the users that are currently registered)
3. integrate my moveable type blog into a "news module" on the phpbb index.

am I crazy? is this easier than I think? or is there an easier way?
if this is the wrong place to post this, or too long, I apologize in advance.

thanks!!!!

Well, you should have no problems following the upgrade steps that I provide on my site. I always suggest that you copy the sql from your current board and create a new database with your copy and try it to your copy before you try it with your live board. It's scary messing with stuff that SHOULD work and then it doesn't. Back up all of your files and back up your database before doing anything.

go to: http://www.b-sidegraphics.com/mod-forum/

In the download forum click on SlatForum...the instructions are in there. I went to your site and it looks like you already have a portal page set up. It looks good and clean. I am guessing that you got what you wanted to do done before I got to this post. Good work.
