Smilie Categories

Hi -

I installed the Smilie Category feature without a hitch. Worked great!

It is especially good for me since I have close to 1000 smilies. (*yikes!)

When I go to the ACP>Smilies - I scroll down to the bottom of the list and "Edit Smilies". I then get to choose which category each smilie will be placed in. I then hit the save button - and the screen will eventually turn white with the word "Done" at the bottom of my browser.

When I get into the discussion board - and view the smilie page - only a few of the smilies are actually placed into the appropriate categories. It appears that the screen size limits how many smilies can be placed into each category.

When I visit the ACP again - only the first half of the categorized smilies are actually saved. (grrr).

So - I think there are two issues:
1. How do I get the category hack to allow MORE smilies to be placed into each category?
2. How do I increase the screen size of each category to allow more smilies to be displayed in them?

Just to be sure. You are talking about the Smiley Categories for phpBB3, right?

If so, there is no limit on the number of smilies in the cat and you can set, how much smilies you like to see per page.

Yes this is for the phpbb3. I think I should also state that I am not using prosilver or subsilver. It's called pro ubuntu.

Where do you have the option to set how many smilies you would like to see per page?

ACP -> Postings -> Post settings

In the "more smilies" popup, you should then see below the smilies something like 1, 2, 3 next ...

It's set to 5000 smilies per page - so I don't think that is the problem.

Very odd. I went to includes/constants.php and set the hard limit on the smilies to 5000 as well. Still no luck.

Why do you like to show 5000 smilies on one page????

So 50 is a very good value and if you have 500, they will be splittet up to 10 pages ...

Keep in mind, that these are only shown in the "more smilies" popup!

So the smilies limit in constans.php is ok. Never realized it before

I think we may be on to something here...

I set the smilies per page limit to 50 like you suggested. Now when I click the "view more smilies" link, only 50 show up. (just like it should). However - I do not have any links on that page to show page 2, 3 4 etc. This might be part of the problem here.

I do not have the ability to view additional pages. Any ideas what's missing?

Looks like ther's something missing in the install file. Open styles/your_style/template/posting_smilies.html and search:

Before you should see:

If not, add it and refresh the template cache ...

That's awesome Femu... that fixed the pagination links on the bottom of the page. (I'm really happy that I only need to show 50 at a time now!) Thanks!

However - when I select a category from the drop down list - the pagination is missing and only a few of the actual images are displayed from that category.

I am going to delete all my categories and try to set them up again. Maybe its just a weird glitch when I defined my categories at the beginning. I'll let you know what happens.

I'm just thinking...

When I ran the install.php function - do you think that it modified files in the prosilver and / or subsilver templates and that is why my pro_ubuntu template is not displaying correctly?

Sure. If you use automod to install, it always only edit the base templates subsilver2 and prosilver. So you need to do the edits manually and also copy the files from either prosilver or subsilver2 manually to the template folder of your style.
