Smilie Categories

I never use the automod feature. (crashes my BB darn near every time). I always do the edits manually. My question was about the install.php file that I run through my internet browser to complete the installation. Do you think that edits some files or configuration that will not work with my pro-ubuntu templates? (I know - its a stretch - but I had to ask.)

I should emphasize again how when I am in the ACP assigning the smilies to their appropriate categories, when I save the changes - there is about a 15 second wait while it saves the changes and then gives me a blank white screen. No message saying it was successfully saved or anything. Just a blank white screen. This appears to be a bug if you ask me. Something appears to be missing. Any thoughts?

I have just deleted all of the categories and started over. Some of the categorized pages now have the pagination down in the bottom corner - but there are still many that are not displaying. (weird). I'm stuck. LOL

The install.php refers only to the database and has nothing to do with your style. So if you have problems in the ACP, you need to check the edits of these files (adm/style and includes/acp).

The 15 seconds could be the result of your high number of smilies.

The white page normally results in an error of the language file. But don't have to be ...

The problem (for me) is identifying what is faulty language in those files. (I'm no php god).

I suppose I will just have to live with this. It sure is a nice hack though. Thanks again for the help.

If anyone else has any suggestions - I am happy to try it out.

Make a small zip with your language files (the included and the possibly edited) and then link to this zip over here. Then I can take a look

Femu has graciously taken a look at my files and validated that it looks okay to him. I'm really at a loss. I didn't want to waste everyone's time with this - so I thought I would try and reinstall it. Here's what I did:

• I verified that I copied all the files in the contrib folder to the correct destinations. They were all there - except the umil folder files were all wrong. So I copied the umil files that were provided in the hack back onto the server.
• I then installed the install_smilie_categories.php to the root of the forum folder to try to uninstall... and then reinstall it.
• When I browsed to that file in my web browser, I got a warning that the "umil" file was out of date. I had to go to a link (provided) - and update my umil files. I did that update - and navigated back to the install file. The warning message went away.
• I uninstalled the smilie categories. The details were all successful. Looked good!
• I then re-installed the install_smilie_categories.php. The details were all successful. Looked good.
• I then started to re-create my categories and then assign each of the smilies to their appropriate category through the ACP. I did about a hundred of them and wanted to see if it would "save" correctly. I hit the "submit" button.

28 seconds later... the white screen of death.
