Problem with stylesheet.css file

I am using the phpbb 3.0.8 version along with the Aeroblue style. When I am working on my site, I can't even look at this Aeroblue/theme/stylesheet.css file straight or my site goes "Ker Plunk". Especially the header, simply trying to change a font color is a no no. I have gone into the ACP and refreshed everything and purged the cache. I have emptied the cache folder also. But it still won't let me change anything. I have made several changes to my site as you can see here:

All these changes were made through editing the template files with html code which I know is not good. Anybody got any idea why this happens?

I think I posted this in the wrong place. I believe it should be in the styles support section. Could someone please move it?

It's hard to diagnose this problem without seeing a changed stylesheet file that causes the issue. What program or method are you using to edit the stylesheet? The stylesheet.css file is being parsed by phpBB for language paths. If you're using a program like Dreamweaver, it might be changing something in the file that breaks that parsing.

I download the file with Filezilla and make the edits using notepad. Then I save the file in utf8 format. Then I upload the file the same way. I don't use Dreamweaver, I use FrontPage or Expression Web but I don't make any changes on the server. I always download the file, especially .css and .php files. I know how to make edits in css but like I said, if I even touch the stylesheet.css; here I go again. I go to the ACP and refresh everything and purge the cache but that don't help.

Here is the part that I edited. This is the only edit I made. I added font-color: #D4A017; to it. thsi is when it breaks the header.

There is no such CSS declaration as "font-color." What you're after is just "color," as in "color: #D4A017;"

I wouldn't expect having this wrong to break the whole stylesheet, but I suppose it's possible.

I realize that is in both examples, but still, it is something to fix.

I tried what you suggested and it broke the header. When I change anything at all in stylesheet.css, the button background images go away. It just doesn’t make any sense.

Hey Rickey,

That is strange. Could you post a screenshot of what the site looks like when you make a change and then post a copy of the whole .CSS file, before and after?
