Problem with Custom Profile Field

Hi there, I'm trying to add a custom profile field to my profiles. This is the mod I'm using: http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/5249

The problem is that everytime I try to add something in the field, it gets moved to the Interests field after I update it. Also, if there's anything inside the Interests field, it gets erased every time I update it (Whether or not the data comes from the custom field).

I've tried editing the files on a local server (xampp) per the instructions in the mod and it works fine, and I've even overwritten some of the online files with files from my test server, but it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

The instructions are missing at least one vital step in usercp_register.php. Try this hack instead: http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/193
It's almost identical, but doesn't exclude the necessary step the other is lacking.

That one doesn't seem to add the profile field in viewtopic.php. Do I just do the steps in the first one (The one missing a step) for that?

Edit: Oh, my fault for not looking at the entire folder. I see, optional lists in its own folder. Thanks, will give this a shot.

Edit 2: Right, I've added the field successfully, but it seems to be rather buggy. I can see it in my profile when I edit it, but after I fill it in and update, the data vanishes from the field. It also doesn't show up in my topics. It would appear that it doesn't work at all, except that it DOES appear when I go to look at my profile.

Edit Profile - Field is Visible, empty after update.

I might have done something wrong somewhere, but I've followed the instructions to the letter, and gone over them twice. Any ideas what I can do?

Edit 3: I gave up and went with plan C. http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/2121 Seems to be working well, for now at any rate. Thanks for trying to help.

I can say that I use Modify Profile myself and it works great - but, glad that you found a solution for what you needed.
