This forum is for phpBB forum reviews. Below you will find a few guidelines applying to both people asking for reviews and giving them.
Posting Your phpBB
This forum is not for advertising your community or for bringing traffic to your community. While those may be side effects, the purpose of your thread must be to get feedback on your community with the hope of improving it.
Be sure to present your URL in a prominent place. If possible, link directly to your phpBB. If you have specific things you want people to look at, mention them.
It is recommended that you actually spend time customizing your phpBB before posting it. Change the look of your site, install hacks that your userbase will appreciate - integrate them in an aesthetically pleasing way and customize it to your liking. Don't just install a phpBB and post it with its basic subSilver look and a different logo.
You will be criticized. Your site isn't perfect (no site is) and that is why you are posting here. Sometimes the opinions of users may be blunt. You can choose to ignore them or accept them, but you should not get angry at them. Reviews are made to help you improve aspects of your site, so most reviews aren't going to make you feel better - just hopefully allow you to improve your site. If you feel that anyone steps over the line and becomes disrespectful, please report them by sending a private message to me or a member of staff. Please do not respond to them yourself, thereby aggravating the situation further.
This can probably go without saying, but your community must be running phpBB in order to post here. Posts asking for reviews of communities that run any other community software are not allowed.
Each phpBB is allowed 1 thread. In certain situations, a 2nd may be permitted, such as if a long period of time has elapsed since your previous thread was active and/or you have launched an entirely new design.
You are allowed to one non informative bump to your thread, but it must come once the thread has been inactive for at least 48 hours. Beyond that, bumping can only occur for noteworthy changes. Your phpBB cannot require people to login just to view it.
Like any thread, your thread is subject to our User Guidelines. So, for example, phpBBs that are featured in the phpBB Review forum must not cover anything inappropriate for this community.
Your phpBB must feature some sort of "Powered by phpBB" statement. At the very least, a mention of phpBB on all phpBB powered pages with a link to http://www.phpbb.com.
If these guidelines are not followed, the review thread will be removed.
Reviewing phpBBs
Read the first post in the thread, the one by the person requesting a review. If he or she is looking for feedback on specific aspects of the site, try to fulfill these requests.
Most users would prefer to hear comments about specific areas or parts of the site or design, rather than general observations.
Honesty is great, but be sure to be respectful when you are criticizing. Please do not make it a personal issue by doing things like attacking their taste in general. Stick to the content and design of the website.
You may want to include information about your operating system, browser, screen resolution, etc.
Please do not be critical of the phpBB's subject matter or the size of the phpBB (posts or members or how few one may have).
Like any posts, your posts in this forum still fall under our User Guidelines and are handled as such.
