Due to downtime problems i recently changed my host hosting my phpbb2 site to another host godaddy which is running on phpbb3.I therefore needed to upgrade my website to phpbb3 before it can efficiently work on
my new server(new host)

.To do this i downloaded the following documentation(outlined below) from phpbbhacks and followed the instructions on how to make a direct upgrade.

I created another folder on my root named it phpbb3 and uploaded the full phpbb3 to it.The next instruction was to now point the following url on my server www.mysite/phpbb3/install/ which i did and it gave me the following error which can be seen on wwww.alljobsnigeria.com/phpbb3/install.This is where i got stuck.Am i doing something wrong?cos i need to continue from there only if the page shows on well according to the instructions i downloaded.(The link to the downloaded material is referenced below)

How do i go about upgrading to phpbb3 directly on my new host from phpbb2 and what files do i need to upload to make my website show..

According to the documentation article, the first thing you need to do is download the latest version of

phpBB3 from their website. Make sure you are downloading from the official phpBB website, so you know you're getting a clean copy.

Next you need to upload it to your website. Make a separate folder for this, do not upload it in the same folder as your current forum. So, for example, if your current forum is at www.yoursite.com/phpbb2 you
should upload this to www.yoursite.com/phpbb3.

I need help on this issue..all contributions and other solution strategies are duly welcome.Thanks..

Hello ediddy02,

Thanks for the note. When you say that GoDaddy is running phpBB 3, how do you mean? Do they have some automatic installer that you are trying to use?

Also, just to be clear, those instructions are from About.com, as opposed to phpBBHacks.com. No worries, just wanted to anyone who read this thread to know that.

Thanks,

Patrick

hold on

you need to upgrade your website to phpbb3 before it can efficiently work on the new server?

may I ask why?

godaddy is running on phpbb3? how can a host "RUN" on phpBB3?

I thought a host would "HOST" whatever the client wanted
