I haven't a clue what I need as far as hacks on a new forum. This is going to be used as a company bulletin board, and technical forum. I am going to have a quick reply mod installed, but what else do I need? I have only used a free host before who had the mods pre-installed, so I don't know what is out there that I should consider.
The web-tech guys that do the support for the company are able to install anything, but I need to tell them what to install.
Suggestions?

Hey Princess,

Thank you for your question.

I would say, though, the thing is that what you need... you may be the best person to answer that. For example, maybe have a default installation set up and then use it yourself a bit with an eye for things. If you find something you are looking for but don't have... you have a need. It's best to limit the hacks/customizations installed to ones that you and your site need or, at least, ones that represent value to you.

And then, when you see needs, you can search our database or post in our requests forum and see if anyone can find it or write it for you.

I hope this answer helps and isn't too annoying.

Thanks,

Patrick

No, that's not too annoying. I'm not sure what exactly is out there, so I'll keep looking.

Thanks.

There are many cool hacks out there for phpBB3 and I suggest that being a company bulletin board then the first thing you would need is a portal.

The choice of portal is up to you as there are quite a few to choose from so when deciding which one to use, you should go to the authors sites to check the features out for yourself and then determine just which one would be best suited for your forum.

Quite a few hacks for phpBB3 can be turned on and off in the ACP so if you do install one and find you dont need it, no need to uninstall it but simply turn it off in the ACP.

I would suggest you search hacks by categories to decide what you want and the order of which you would want to install them.

Good luck and have fun.
