The house was in foreclosure. I assume the city of Saginaw Michigan sold the house through Southern Investments LLC on Ebay because it should of helped bring a larger audience to the sell.

Also from the article on Yahoo, "She must pay about $850 in back taxes and yard cleanup costs." So the cost looks more like this(assuming from the picture the yard isn't bigger behind the house):
$1.75 on Ebay
$850 in back taxes
~$50-$150 to have the yard cleaned up
------
~$901.75 - $1001.75

Still pretty good. I assume that the previous owner didn't trash the place(it seems to be the trendy thing for those who've been foreclosed on to do). Else she might end up putting more into the house before she is able to sell it.
