I have recently bought a site from the Yahoo! domains. Now i wish to use the phpBB templates. the steps i have done so far:

1)downloaded the phpbb
2)downloaded the template
3)copied the whole phpbb into the FTP using CuteFTP
4)manged to get to the installation page, and have opened the MYSQL database.

now im stuck, because i have no idea where to go from there. twice ive tried to install, and twice i get a critical error saying that the database cant be connected to. anyone have any idea as to what im doin wrong?

if someone could possibly contact me through IM Yahoo and MSN(both use twinsilversnakes, one @yahoo.com, the other @hotmail.com). if not, maybe someone could possibly install the whole thing for me? although the last one seems too much, i have no idea wat im doing, and do not wish to mess up the whole website. i would like for the person who installs the php to be the site admin. u will have the credit for makin the site, all i need is to be able to configure the template with forums and such.

If you're going to start a new site phpBB2 is not the best choice of software I think. Support for it will disappear by the end of the year because it's too outdated. Better to start with phpBB3 instead of having to upgrade after a few months. But that's just my opinion ofcourse

Did your host give you a password for your database?

As you are with Yahoo you can install phpBB directly from your useer account with them.

There is no need to download it and install manually from what I can see.

Log into your hosting account Control Panel and you can get all the information you need from there.
