sure did - did the same thing but with wmplayer - could probably get it to the mp3 playing as well with a bit of a nose!..finishing off some uni work tonight and then will be playing around with it quite a bit to get it to do both - probably move to wmplayer so that both can be done without two players, and also tieing it in with phpbb so that you know which users have uploaded what etc.

You do realize that your NFWS forum is open to guests right?

Is that they way you intended it?

We have one on our forum...however, it's private even if registered (invite only).

As well as a music upload (and download, shhhhh) section not viewable by guests but totally accessible for registered users.

Just FWIW.

I thought, if I could get some posts there first, and then closed it...it would be better! But I think Im going to make it only viewable for registered too... But still in dubio because I dont have a lot of members yet hehe...

How much MB you got on your server? I only got 200, so it would be a problem to let people upload stuff.. my serverspace would be full in no-time!

But how you made the music upload/download section? With "fit's musicplayer" or something else? a hack?

Thnx for the the comment! Good one

Server space...12Gigs and 400 gigs per month bandwidth. All for ~$8 per month.

Pretty damn good if you ask me.

As to the music upload/download section Take a look

When users enter they are greeted with a random song via the embedded player and to the right of that is the jukebox (flash player from mywimpy.com).

The upload/download is from a hack (music_online) with some additional improvements. Download is via clicking on a particular song (shows two links, one to use a local player and another to just download the song to your comp).

FWIW, you can see the wimpy player in action by visitng the portal and on the right had side there will be a music statistics section...jukebox link is located therein....even for guests to just listen.

12 gigs?!??!?!?! Argue
Too bad I already have a new server... this sounds perfect!!!
But you can get into problems providing songs for people right? Illegal etc

But looks very promising... and for 8 per month... *wow*!

I cant open up the upload function on my website, because my webspace would be full within days...

How is the speed there? It loads fast in my browser so thats nice...

What hack did you use for the songs? Music Online or something?

Keep it coming

Uhmmm, errrr, re: providing songs for people...most everyone contributes and I suppose if the RIAA wanted to come after 20 some odd people swapping songs back and forth they could. Somehow I think they are a bit busy with other things though and the download link can always be taken away.

Yes, it is the music online hack with a twist. Not just anyone has access upon registration. You have to post so many times (50) before granted access to that part of the forum. Done via another mod (auto group).

With my music player mod -> see hack dev forum

I have linked the upload to the database so that the

username
ip
filename
date

are all logged for reference and users can only upload after confirming that they own copyright to the songs.

You cannot download the songs from the player and if you get an "enquiry" you can trace all of the files so that individuals have the responsibilty of proving ownership

Excellant website! I would love my website just like that ! (With different colours and content) but i love the way it all works!

Do you know much about redesigning websites? would it be possible for you to help me change my website from what it is now to all like a portal like yours?

My website is the WWW link. Thanks for any reply.
