You are welcome to vote in as many or few polls as you would like, but we encourage you to vote in as many as you are comfortable. The more valid votes - the better. Who you vote for is up to you. You can vote for the download that you think is more useful, you can vote for who you want to win or you can vote based on some other metric of your choosing. In order to vote, you must have registered on our forums by July 16, 2008. Any votes made by those registered on July 17 or later will be removed.

Voting for this round will be closed on July 28 at 8 PM ET. Please do not post your votes in this or any thread.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via private message or patrick@phpbbhacks.com. Please do not post a reply on the poll threads.

As a reminder for any authors who remain in the tournament, please do not attempt to artificially inflate our vote totals in any way. This includes but is not limited to trading votes, encouraging people to vote indiscriminately (publicly or privately), mass mailing/posting and any other behavior that could lead to results being artificially skewed. You are welcome to mention on your own site or elsewhere that you are nominated, but please do not encourage anyone to engage in any devious practices or inflate our voting totals in an unnatural way. Individuals found to be participating in any of these activities will be disqualified from winning either prize and will be completely removed from the tournament.

With that out of the way, good luck to everyone!

For full rules, details on the tournament format and other information, please check out the initial announcement.

For fun, here are the current brackets for the tournament format:

Finally

Primarily, this thread is for announcing the information contained in this post, for wishing people luck, congratulating winners and asking for questions about the competition as it is now. If you have any feedback in the form of ideas for alterations, changes or additions in the current or future iterations of phpBBHacks.com Idol, please contact me via private message or e-mail to ensure that it receives the proper consideration. Please do not post these suggestions on the thread. We want to keep the focus on the competition and the current participants and winners. I appreciate it.

I realize that this competition created some excitement as far as creating phpBB 3 hacks and styles and submitting them to our database and I'm very happy about that. But, most downloads in our database were submitted without their being any prizes at stake and that will continue to be the case, I'm sure. Though we are only able to reward two authors (and I am delighted to be able to do so), I greatly appreciate every author who has contributed to the phpBB community through phpBBHacks.com. Thank you.

Once again, good luck to everyone who remains in the tournament! I can't wait to award the prizes.

Thank you to Chitika, W3 Markup, SitePoint, Blog World & New Media Expo, AMACOM, O'Reilly, Apress and Packt for agreeing to sponsor this event.

Thank you for reading and for your interest in the competition. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,

Patrick

Also, may I suggest reducing the available time for voting in the polls? 4 days seems a bit unnecessary, especially when there's already been an average of 15 votes per poll within the first 24 hours, which is comparable to the total votes when the previous round was open for 4 days. It just seems to me that most would probably want to see this competition progress a bit quicker, as I'm sure all are eager to see the results. Again, this is but a suggestion, but I hope that you'll consider it. ^^

Thanks for the replies.

Luca,

I don't mind those being posted in the thread as you have, but there should not be any replies in the actual voting threads themselves. I appreciate it.

Daniel,

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it and will definitely keep it in mind. It's a balance that I work to maintain between wanting to keep things moving and also allowing people enough time to vote. 1-2 days isn't enough and really, 4 isn't even that much. But, I think it's a decent number in between. No number will be perfect, of course. But, again, I'll keep your thoughts in mind.

Thanks.

As an aside, from this point forward, if anyone has any further feedback as far as ideas you have for alterations, additions or changes for the current or future iterations, please contact me directly via private message or e-mail so that it can be properly considered. I welcome your thoughts.

As we want to keep the focus on the competition and the current winners and participants, this thread is for things like wishing people luck, congratulating people and/or asking questions about the competition as it is now.

I appreciate it.

Thanks,

Patrick

It is a shame really that more people were not involved in sending in hacks and styles though what we have here is a pretty good indication that there are some great hacks and styles for phpBB3 out there at the moment.

Quite a few of the hacks that are entered in this competition I already use and find them very handy to have.

Well done to everyone who has progressed through to the second round and I now look forward to seeing the results from the third round of voting.

I must say, I have enjoyed watching the progress of this little competition and so congratulations to Patrick for being able to set it up the way he has ... well done Patrick.
