We opened to phpBB 3 related submissions in June of last year and phpBB 3 subsequently went gold in December. Over this period of time, we have an opportunity to become familiar with the release and to gauge the support behind it.
After careful consideration and, literally, a ton of thought, we have made the decision to end support of phpBB 3 and focus on phpBB 2, at this time. This does not mean that we will not support future major releases of phpBB, but phpBB 3 has not shown itself to be a viable community software option. Coupled with the lack of community support and interest from authors, users and the community in general, it's become apparent that it is not something that is worth dedicating further resources to.
I apologize, in advance, for any inconvenience or frustration that this may cause. We'll begin to phase out the phpBB 3 sections of our site in the middle part of this month and we hope to have it fully closed by the end of May. It will remain online, for an unspecified portion of time, for archival purposes.
