Later this week, I'm planning to release an update to Photo Visual Confirmation. It'll have the general stuff you'd expect from a mod that hasn't been updated for a year and half: rewrites, bug fixes, new features.

Before I do release it, though, I'd like to get a bit of feedback from anyone that uses or is interested in using it. How many images, total, would you like to display on the confirmation prompt?

The current version has a bug related to the length of the confirmation code stored in the database; if more than 23 images are display, the code will always be wrong. I'm going to increase that to at least 32, but I want to see if anyone needs/wants more than that.

I have seen your photo confirmation in action on your site.

Even though I thought the concept was good, I was a bit taken back by just how many photo's you have in it and to me it just made the registration process a lot longer than I feel it should be.

Personally, I think a lesser number of images would be much better than you have in your current example.

The version on my site is the phpBB 2 version, which doesn't have configuration options for the number of images. The phpBB 3 version does. It can show fewer images or more. What I'm looking for right now is the maximum amount someone might like to show, just so I know if I need to throw in an ALTER TABLE query.

I would say the number of images used would depend on the end user's own feelings.

In my case I would would be happy to see just 3 or 4 so based on that, I would suggest that you could have say 12/15 images with the option to set it via the ACP to what ever the end user feels comfortable with.

HI,

I think another concept could be more user-friendly.
One picture with a question about that picture and a dropdown with ten possible answers, only one being the right one would be a perfect and very simple confirmation check.

I understand this is not the same concept as you're proposing, nevertheless I give you my idea as a bit of feedback.

Greetings.

Awesome to hear that this hack is going to be updated. I love it and the concept behind it. The configurable number of images is a great, great addition! I appreciate your work on this.
