3 weekends of work, ok, 1 weekend of work, blow it out and start over, so 2 weekends of work. This board is replace another phpbb2 board that is shutting down...I wanted full control so, here it is...

The link in your post has an E where an S should be, so it doesn't work. No worries, just wanted to mention. The link in your profile allowed me to find the site.

One bit of feedback I can offer is that, on your index page, where you have the forum icons - like the man at a poker table for "Reenactor Saloon" - the varied width of them pushes the forum title, description, moderators, etc. to the right and, from forum to forum, the icons you used have different widths, which means that the forum titles, etc. start in different areas and that can make it look a little disorganized to some.

So, if that text lined up - if the forum titles, descriptions, etc. lined up vertically, I think that would look neater.

A similar thing I noticed was that the spacing between the icons in your header - Chat, Gallery, Homepage, etc. was not equal.

Just a couple of tightening down related things. Hope that helps. Good luck with your site.

Fixed the problem with link, tnks did not see that...

Now that the board is "Functional" now the cosmetics start, and yes, I noticed that but as I'm going to replace all those avatars, will insure they're the same width, but as far as the menu-bar, a mod did that and I have no clue what file to look at to fix that. it upsets me every time I see it...

Another suggestion is to get rid of the board background in the site logo images if you insist on having the images. Personally, I'd remove them from both the right and left. The name in the center is all you need.

Hmmm, would drop once I figure out where to set the font type and size on the center name and description...

As this board is geared for late 1800's Western Reenactors, am wanting to develop an "Old West" theme, desert tans and earth-tone browns, with graphics that go with the era....

Happy to help. You can change that center name and description in your http://www.reenactorswire.net/forum/sty ... esheet.css file. First, find this section:

    font-size: 1.8em;
    font-weight: bold;
    text-decoration: none;
}

That one controls the title text. You can find the size to make it smaller, i.e. 1.7, 1.6, etc. and can make changes to that element to change that text.

For the description, find:

    margin: 1px;
}

Make any changes, save the file, upload and clear your cache.

Found it, will play this weekend, course the problem I see at this time is the font size unit of measure, never came across this before, so have no value to relate to. am used to the old html sizing.

You know I do have another question while we're at it.

My board uses subsilver2 as it closely follows thwe board everybody is migrating from. Most of my users are in their 50's to 70's, thus I can only do so many changes before their lost, and the phpBB2 to phpBB3 migration is having it's effect already.

anyway, can I deactivate prosilver, thus preventing users from using it, copy subsilver2 to a dir, rename the dir to my new style, load that up and activate, thus allowing anybody who knows what their doing to be able to change themes in their UCP, check to make sure it's looking right, or working, while leaving everybody else alone???

Sure thing.

Yes, you can disable prosilver. Assuming anyone isn't using it now, you can just delete the prosilver folder in the http://www/reenactorswire.net/forum/styles folder. That will cause it to disappear. Save a backup of it just in case anything happens or you need it.

As far as changing the name of the subsilver2 folder/copying it to a new folder, it's definitely possible. Follow this tutorial: http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/how-to- ... bb3-style/

I would be afraid to delete the prosilver style because to my understanding, there are dependency issues. I believe the official reason is to lessen the number of files on your host by doing this, so in-actvating should be enough...

But thanks for the feedback, been changing the board a little already...

No worries.

What I meant was that if you want to go with subsilver2, it is it's own independent style, as far as I know, so it doesn't depend on prosilver. But, you are right, with some other styles, there may be some dependency on prosilver.
