Wondering if someone here can help with upgrading from phpbb 3.0.5 to 3.0.6. I have posted the question on the phpbb.com forum, but haven't gotten any response several days...

I'm running phpbb 3.0.5 on my forum, http://www.oldwillysforum.com

I'm trying to update to 3.0.6 with the latest Upgrage package, phpBB 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 Update Package (zip).

I have followed the instructions as follows:

* Go to the downloads page and download the latest update package listed there, matching your current version.
* Upload the archives contents to your phpBB installation - only the install folder is required. Upload the whole install folder, retaining the file structure.
* After the install folder is present, phpBB3 will go offline automatically.
* Point your browser to the install directory, for example http://www.example.com/phpBB3/install/
* Choose the "Update" Tab and follow the instructions

After uploading the Install folder, and pointing my browser to the install directory, I get the Installation page. However, the only "tab" is the Overview tab, with three links on the left margin. There is no Update tab on the page or anywhere in the three links...

I have the following mods installed on the forum-
Prime Multi Quote
Portal
Gallery
highslide
Altered version of Arrow style

What am I missing?

Any help greatly appreciated...

Thanks

Pete

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks,

Patrick

The only thing I can think of is that maybe the download wasn't complete or the files corrupted? To me it sounds as if there's a few things missing from the download. I'd recommend attempting to download and unzip it again, then compare the files to the files in the first download you grabbed.

Did you get your download from this page? http://www.phpbb.com/downloads/olympus.php?update=1

do it this way

find wording on downloads page (quoted above by Syren)

"Automatic Update Package"

then find "Show Files"

click on show files

click on the first zip you see

unpack the zip on your computer

Upload the archives contents to your phpBB installation - only the install folder is required.

Upload the whole install folder, retaining the file structure.

After the install folder is present, phpBB3 will go offline automatically.

Point your browser to the install directory, for example http://www.example.com/phpBB3/install/

Choose the "Update" Tab and follow the instructions

HAVE YOUR FTP username and password ready, you will need it

in my opinion still go the way as I described

the system will show you yellow and red files

with red, choose the first (IMHO)

at the end - see what mods went bad

then repair them

that's my opinion anyway
