Making the search box be expandable

Hi, I would like to change the search box that appears by default in the header to be expandable. On some sites, I have seen it be a link beside the FAQ, Register, and Login links below the header, and expand when clicked. How can I implement it to be the same way? Tahkns, Serge.

The easiest way (given that there is no "official mod" for what you want) is to contact one of the site administrators where you see it and ask them for the coding.
