Hello All.
I hope you can help. I have set up a forum using phppbb3 version3.0.0.. I found a skin on phpbbHACKS version3.0.0.(inspiration) that i like.
I have downloaded the zip file to Local C, and unpacked it.Converted the folders/files using 7zip.(The tar.gz file wont extract in the c/p of the File Manager).I have uploaded these files/folders to DirectAdmin c/p using WS FTP client.I set the permissions to 777(folders), and 666(files).
I have gone into the forum ACP to styles, and found that there is the prosilver style and a substyle(ready for install) but no inspiration skin.
Could anyone advise as to what i need to do please?.

I have checked with the the forum board topic already, and doesn't seem to help me.
Cheers.

Have you placed the new style in the styles folder? You probably have but just to check. Then refresh the styles page in your admin cp and it should appear.

As a note phpBB3 is now on version 3.0.2 this could be why. I would also update to the newer version. I am using this and have inspiration 960 as one of my themes for users.

Not sure why you changed the permissions on the folders as I have never done this when adding a new style.

Hope this helps.

Hello Smiley.
Thanks for the gen. I understood that using the permissions 777/666 were applicable to SOHO Linux packages.Maybe i'm wrong.
Should they be 644?.
I took your advice and upgraded to phpbb3 version 3.0.2, however the inspiration skin is still not showing in the phpbb ACP.
The files and folders for the skin are in Directadmin c/p.OK, so they have'nt got uploaded into phpbb. There is no install bar.
So, still pulling my hair out.
Any advice is welcome.

The skin needs to be located in your styles folder where you should be able to find prosilver and subSilver2 styles.

Once the style is in there, you can go into your boards ACP and select the styles tab where it will (should be) showing as Not installed. You can then install it from there.

Now with your direct admin you should be able to move the style into the correct folder or alternately, download a free FTP client such as FileZilla and use it to copy it into the correct folder.

I have located the new skin in the styles folder where
default styles are.Went to phpbb3 ACP, but no inspiration skin.
Tried a fresh install of 3.0.2, and copied same. All the 3 subfolders in DirectAdmin and style.cfg were there.
Only subsilver2 and prosilver were available as styles in ACP.
Went to style.cfg in PHPBB3 folder and specified a different style name using text editor.Uploaded this with FTP client, and has'nt worked.?????????????.
I ask please if anyone can do this for me?.

Thank You All. Problem is solved now.
The FTP client had duplicated 2 sets of files for the styles folders,so moving and deleting one set had cured the problem. Big Wink
