Finishing up new design, stumped on UCP... ideas?

So I'm just finishing up a new style that I've been designing for my ages-old Mac user community over the past few months (on and off, not continuously of course). I was trying to reinterpret the traditional phpBB board format. Have I succeeded?

One place where I've been a little brain-frozen is in the UCP area. As you browse around the forum, you'll get an impression of the overall style, and then, bam UCP is a big mess (unfinished). I'm trying to come up with the best way to integrate it into the new style.

The board is running phpBB 3, with some mods by others and private mods I've done myself.

Ideas, comments or hatemail are all appreciated!

Hey Dan, thanks for sharing this. I think that the site looks great. I think that there is a common way text content is displayed, for the sake of organization and readability. But, your design is great. Tremendous work!

I just registered to get a look at the UCP (shocked that the username Patrick was still available, but I'll take it). I can see what you mean. I'm seeing some duplicated navigation text and it's a work in progress.

I think it'll look nice though if you continue down that road and mirror the design on other pages as far as placing the text in the white boxes and varying typography in a pleasing manner.

I started a little bit on the UCP but then just stopped dead, juggling ideas in my head for managing the secondary UCP-specific navigation, to which nothing similar is repeated anywhere else in phpBB. Especially difficult is the private messages section.

I didn't want to start working without aim or direction, only to start over halfway through. So what's there right now is definitely not my idea of the final product, rather mostly code brought over from my old theme that doesn't fit or work well at all (obviously).
