Error after restore - Tables are there, posts + users aren't

Hello guys, I ran into an error after I wanted to restore my database after moving to a new host.

First I installed the latest version of phpbb2 (even though my older forum was running a slightly older version of phpbb2)
Then I went to phpmyadmin to import my phpbb_db_backup.sql into the same database I just used to install phpbb2, just as Triumvirate posted in this thread

Mysql returned an error saying: #1062 - Duplicate entry 'touch' for key 1

But in phpmyadmin all the tables from the database are restored, including the posts_text,ranks, etc.
When I go to my forums it self, only the categories and the amount of posts are actually there. There are no threads and the userslist is empty (except for the default admin account). There are no posts, but in phpmyadmin the tables look restored??

Any solution?

ps: I'm very thankful that there are still people helping out on using phpbb2.

Since you started out with installing the latest version of phpBB 2, you had all the table structure and data from a default install before restoring the backup. Restoring the backup should overwrite that table data, one table at a time, to match your old database. It may also overwrite the table structure, but that depends on the completeness of the backup.

Unfortunately, restoring the back up failed somewhere in the middle of that process, leaving you with portions of the default structure and data. What you see in phpMyAdmin is that mixture.

My recommendation is to try again, but start with the version of phpBB 2 you were using when you created the backup. There were some database changes in late versions; those may have caused the restoring process to fail if your backup did not include table structures.

I fixed it.

I removed all the INSERT_SEARCH_WORDLIST entries which pretty much made up half of the db_backup_sql. After that the import worked and all the posts and users were there.

Looks to me like the size of the original backup exceeded the limit phpMyAdmin admits, thus causing it to stop restoring before the end was reached.

Removing SEARCH_WORDLIST reduced the size and made it work.

Now your forum-search probably isn't working.
Is that right?

Yes you are correct, the forum search does not work because I removed the search_ entries but that's fine by me, at least I have all the users and threads back.

The original backup was 19MB, after removing the search it was 7MB

If you are interested in rebuilding the search_wordlist table you can use Rebuild Search Index hack.

Very easy to install, only upload some files, no edits needed, and works very well.

For restoring big databases i always use bigdump which works great.
