I have a phpbb 3.0.6 up and running and I'd like to set up each forum on it with its own theme. For example, for the sci-fi forum, when someone views it, it'd have a sci-fi theme. Or, if someone were viewing the medieval/fantasy forum, I could have a medieval/fantasy theme for that forum only. Hope this makes sense. Is this possible to do? If so, is there a modification I need to install first?

Does anyone know how this might be accomplished? I could definitely see others making use of this.

Thanks,

Patrick

I can see how it could be accomplished however in saying that, it would take probably a total rewrite of phpBB to do.

The idea is good though I will give you that.

Maybe someone who has plenty of time to spare will take it on board and work with coding it as a "new" style.

I'm no coder, but could this possibly be achieved via the use of a mod/hack? Maybe it's something I can request to be made as a mod?

Thanks for jumping in, ~HG~,

Just speaking hypothetically, for a simple way to do this, phpBB is already equipped to load a style based on a URL parameter, i.e. index.php?style=94.

I don't see why a hack couldn't let you set a given style for a forum in the ACP and then have all links to that forum, and topics within that forum, add the ?style=ID parameter to them.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Patrick

As I said, I'm not a coder and I dare not even attempt in creating a mod for this, but I know I really need one that let's me as the forum admin select which forum is viewed with what theme.

Thanks Syren. I know, I'm not a coder, either. Hehe. I was just trying to offer a suggestion that a coder could run with. Sorry.

Thanks,

Patrick

By some odd coincidence (who knows how these things happen? ), I just happened across a site that did this! I've e-mailed the person behind it to ask how. I will let you know if I hear back.

Thanks,

Patrick

LOL.

OK guys, you aren't going to believe this, but this is a default feature in phpBB 3. I didn't even think to check. Sorry about that.

Click the "Forums" tab and edit the forum you want by clicking on the green widget icon. Of the text fields, one you'll see is "Forum style." Here you can select the style you want for that forum.

Thanks to Will Hough ( http://www.willhough.net ) for pointing this out to me.

Thanks,

Patrick
