Do Not Bump is designed to help decrease topic bumping spam by stopping some bumping posts from being created. When a user tries to post in a topic, the following criteria are checked:

1. Did this user start the thread?
2. Did this user make the last post in this thread?
3. Is bumping allowed in this forum?
4. Was that post made less than 48 hours ago? (Time threshold can be changed).
5. Is this user not a guest user, an administrator or a moderator of this specific forum?

If the answer to all of these questions is "yes," then Do Not Bump intercedes and prevents the reply from being posted. The user is asked to edit their last post instead of bumping the thread.

Each individual forum may allow or disallow bumping and the amount of time to wait before allowing bumps is configurable for each forum. Bump prevention does not apply to guests, admins or moderators (in forums that they moderate).
